This rainbow cake is loved by kids, but its equally beloved by the baby shower crowd. Consider this rainbow-colored delight is its own pot of gold! And remember, there's rarely a bright colored food which is not cherished.

Making a rainbow cake

  • Get the ingredients - You'll need one box of white cake mix, a 12 ounce can of Sprite and food colorings. Consider doubling, tripling or quadrupling the recipe depending on your amount of baby shower guests.
  • Mix the ingredients - Though your cake mix will call for eggs and oil/butter, skip these ingredients and include the 12 ounce can of Sprite.
  • Separate the batter - Separate your batters into 6 equally-sized bowls, each with their own spoon. Color each of the six batters with a color of the rainbow (in order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple)
  • Integrate the colors - Scoop equal sized portions of your batters into a cake round(s). Remember to follow the colors of the rainbow listed above!
  • Bake your cake! - Bake your cake according to the instructions on your cake box!
